Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant assists with checking in patients and providing all aspects of patient care and support to clinic staff. This position rooms patients, provides initial screening and checks in preparation for the physician. Provide patient follow-up work as directed. This is an hourly non-exempt position that reports to the Lead Medical Assistant and Medical Clinic Manager.


  • Assist with patient flow and troubleshoot any concerns as they appear to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Prepare clinic equipment and supply orders to ensure medical and administrative supplies are available.
  • Perform Medical Assistant and Medical Receptionist duties as needed to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Complete immunization reports and documentation as required by King County DOH and VFC programs. Assist with HIS immunization reports as needed.
  • Complete Washington breast and cervical health program reports and documentation as required by the WBCH program. Assist patients in the application process and attend annual mandatory trainings.
  • Renew MA licensing and certifications annually. Ensure MA is up to date with HCA certifications, CPR, AED First Aid, and BBP/HIVV training.
  • Prepare and maintain clinic documents and forms as needed.
  • Ensure the waiting room, front desk and break rooms are clean and maintained. Make maintenance requests and get appropriate approvals and signatures.
  • Assist with program planning, policy development, and/or interagency coordination related to Medicaid covered services.
  • Properly document patient information in EHR and RPMS. Assist staff with proper use of electronic medical records and appointment scheduling. Assist with conversion of paper charts into EHR.
  • Attend staff training and staff meetings as assigned. Assist with support staff training as needed.
  • Maintain medical records and protect patient privacy in line with HIPPA.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited MA program required. Ongoing CEU's to maintain national CMA certification.
  • Three or more years' medical assistant work experience in a family practice setting required.
  • Previous experience working in a tribal health clinic preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, patient charting systems, medical data reports, EHR, RPMS, PIMS, IHS patient registration, CEMDS, Prodata, Care360, ChildProfile, and Provider One.
  • Knowledge of basic administrative procedures and office practices.
  • Valid and unrestricted Washington State driver's license required.
  • Current CPR/1st Aid card (or ability to obtain within three months of hire), TB immunization, HIPPA compliance, and blood borne pathogens training required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. 10-key proficiency and minimum 45 WPM.
  • Excellent customer service skills and written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse populations in a courteous, helpful, and clearly understood manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize time and duties efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Native cultures, history, and traditions strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • Must pass background check.
