POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant assists with select nursing and administrative/clerical duties while providing all aspects of patient care in line with the policies of the organization and respective state laws governing such action and activities. This position provides patient follow-up and works as directed. This is an hourly non-exempt position that reports to the Medical Clinic Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform selected nursing and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Prep and prepare patient exam rooms and patients for examination.
  • Record patient histories and vital signs.
  • Administer injections, draw blood, and apply dressings as instructed.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment used for treatments, including sterilization and logging.
  • Assist in preparing minor surgeries and exams.
  • Perform direct patient care as instructed by the provider.
  • Timely and accurate documentation on all patients treated.
  • Maintain patient files, records and gather data for reports as directed.
  • Attend required meetings, training and participate in committees as requested.
  • Follow guidelines concerning working hours and break periods while managing time effectively to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty.
  • Assist with patient flow and troubleshoot any concerns as they appear to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Prepare clinic equipment and supply orders to ensure medical and administrative supplies are available.
  • Complete immunization reports and documentation as required by King County DOH and VFC programs. Assist with IHS immunization reports as needed.
  • Complete Washington breast and cervical health program reports and documentation as required by the WBCH program. Assist patients in the application process and attend annual mandatory trainings.
  • Ensure the waiting room, front desk, and break rooms are stocked, cleaned and maintained. Make maintenance requests as appropriate to supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certificate with AAMA certification required. Ongoing CEU's to maintain as well as AAMA CMA certification.
  • Three or more years' medical assistant work experience in a family practice setting preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a tribal health clinic preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, patient charting systems, medical data reports, EHR, RPMS, PIMS, IHS patient registration, CEMDS, Prodata, Care360, ChildProfile, and Provider One preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted Washington State driver's license required.
  • Current CPR/1st Aid card (or ability to obtain within three months of hire), TB immunization, HIPAA compliance, and blood borne pathogens training required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. 10-key proficiency and minimum 45 WPM.
  • Excellent customer service skills and written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse populations in a courteous, helpful, and clearly understood manner.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion.
  • Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize time and duties efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Native cultures, history, and traditions strongly preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • Must pass background check.
