3 Internship Positions Available

POSITION SUMMARY

This summer internship position is being offered to Snoqualmie Tribal students entering 11th grade, 12th grade, or their freshman year of college. The internship program runs a total of 7 weeks and attendance for the full duration of the program is required. Interns will learn, participate, contribute and engage in the many functions of Tribal administration and the programs and events organized by the Tribe. Interns will spend 2 weeks working out of the Snoqualmie Casino, in a department of their choosing following an orientation. The remainder of the weeks will be sent working with Snoqualmie Indian Tribe's Human Resources Department, Environment and Natural Resource Department, Communications & Public Relations staff, In-House Legal, Education Department, and Culture Department. The Interns have the opportunity to work two tribal events: The Back to School Event at the Woodland Park Zoo and the Culture, Health, and Fitness Youth Camp.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in Tribal Governance activities, including but not limited to daily department operations and tasks, department meetings, and council meetings, when appropriate, upon the request of supervisor.
  • Must have the responsibility to approach their internship with the professionalism of a full-time employee
  • Each intern is obligated to conduct himself/herself in a manner that will reflect positively upon the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe.
  • Must clock in and out at the start and end of each workday.
  • Must read and follow the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe Human Resource Handbook.
  • Must follow each department's chain of command.
  • Must complete any work assigned to them by the department during work hours; interns are not permitted to do homework or outside activities while on the job.
  • Must work throughout the internship to complete their final project, details of the project will be outlined in the first week of work. A written report and oral presentation will be required as completion of the internship program.
  • Interns will be evaluated by each department and also will be required to provide an evaluation of each department they work within
  • Participate in workforce development and career related trainings, including but not limited to, resume writing, interviewing, career research, and interest exploration.
  • Must be available to help at the Back-to-School Event, August 18th; 10AM-3PM at Woodland Park Zoo.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education
  • Candidate must be an enrolled Tribal Member or the biological child of an enrolled Tribal Member.
  • Candidate must entering 11th or 12th grade for academic year 2018-2019 or must be a college freshman.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in high school or college.

   Other Requirements

  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License during duration of employment or have an alternate source of transportation to and from the Snoqualmie area. (Dependent on schedule you may be required to report to the Administration building, Casino, or Snoqualmie Courts)
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must have CPR/First aid or will be required to attend a training during employment.
  • Must have HIPPA training or will be required to attend a training during employment.
  • Must have a current TB test.
